Pneumatic Conveying Blower Duty
Dilute phase conveying duty: line velocity, material rate, travel distance, pressure and wheel choice.
The duty
A conveying fan is a pressure machine with a velocity constraint
Conveying duty is set by two numbers that come from the material, not from the fan. The first is line velocity: most dilute phase materials need roughly 18 to 35 m/s in the pipeline to stay airborne, and that fixes the air volume for a given pipe diameter. The second is pressure: the fan must cover the acceleration loss, the vertical lift, the bend losses, the receiver or filter differential and the entire horizontal run.
That is why the high pressure radial blade blower is the default wheel here. It makes pressure to 2,000 mmWC in our published envelope, it tolerates product entering the eye, and its blades are simple metal exactly where the wear happens.
Vacuum or pressure phase
Vacuum systems pull from one or more pick points to a receiver, typically to around minus 0.5 bar(g). Pressure systems push from a single injection point, commonly to around 1.0 bar(g). The selection arithmetic is the same in both directions.
